The Fortune Bar
“”Good fortune as a common need has always been pursued in many ways. Wishing for Good Fortune for oneself or fellow men rises spirits, enriches lives and builds enterprises.
In 1649 in New Amsterdam (the current New York) a shrine was created by a ship carpenter and placed at the centre of the town square. It united all colonists in this one common belief: Good Fortune.
That single shrine allowed the many cultural traditions to wish for good spirits each and every day. A multicultural attitude that still characterizes modern New York AND Amsterdam.””
